How to Find Travel Insurance if You Are a Chronic Patient

Most of travel insurance companies do not cover people with chronic illnesses or with acute conditions of the diseases. They can cover only unexpected events. The insurers presuppose that people with chronic illnesses will for sure claim for the coverage and that’s why they raise the price and reduce the number of policies so that the traveler has no choice and has to pay more for insurance.
But there are also companies which provide the policies especially for people with pre-existing medical conditions, for example, TopDogCoverwise, Flexicover. They offer reasonably priced policies in order to let any tourist with a poor medical record enjoy travelling as much as an absolutely healthy man.
While choosing the policy which you know should insure ill people, read the small print in your contract and get assured that it could cover the illness you suffer from.
If you choose standard insurance or insurance which doesn’t cover your particular disease you’ll take the risk of the insurance company won’t pay out when you make a claim.
FOS (Financial Ombudsman Service), the consumer complaints organization gathered the statistics according to the reasons of declined insurance claims and found out that the half of health-related insurance complaints of travelers was caused by the fact of not preventing of having a desease.
The spokesman for FOS, Martyn James says that insurers have already taken some steps to get sure that their clients buy the right policy. But at the same time he admits that still there are a number of insurance policies which are too broad and ambiguous and the clients with pre-existing medical conditions can’t be sure that they will receive the coverage if necessary.
Mr. James says that in order to escape that equivocal situation both the insurer and his client should be attentive and honest: the customer should disclose all necessary information about the level of his health and the insurer should ask particular questions to enable his clients to do so.
